Mel Bose – The Terrain Tutor – has been building terrain for almost as long as he can remember. When he was five, Mel built playsets for his little green army men in the corner of the craft store his mother ran. He was often assisted by model railroaders who were regulars at the store and, by the time he saw his first White Dwarf magazine at age 15, Mel was primed for a life of building terrain.
Mel has traveled the world, as a medic in the army, a physiotherapist, and even a salesman. He has worked with people from all walks of life, and looked at things from many different perspectives. It is this approach that he brings to his successful YouTube channel (The Terrain Tutor, click the image below to check it out). For the last fiveyears, Mel has been able to make a living from sharinghis passion – teaching people everything he knows about building terrain for tabletopwargaming, for hobbyists, clubs, displays, and for dioramas – and it’s that passion and knowledge that he is bringing to this book, TERRAIN ESSENTIALS. This Kickstarter campaign is to fund a printed version of the book – TERRAIN ESSENTIALS – a 96+ page book perfect to add to the collection of anyone with an interest in creating excellent tabletop terrain, regardless of purpose or the builder's ability. Source When Egyptians were mummified, they had their organs removed and put in separate jars. So, you can only imagine how annoying it would be to wake up and realize that your spleen is gone. You'd probably want it back. And that's what you'll be doing in Kam'on, a new card game that's up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign: KAM’ON is a strategic card game that allows you to immerse yourself into the ancient land of Egyptian burial grounds, where every player impersonates a mummy that is on the hunt to find his 4 organs in order to reclaim his throne and win the game! The path to victory is not an easy one. There are many obstacles on the quest to reviving your mummy from the dead. Your opponents will do whatever it takes to obstruct you from victory. They will cast spells against you, and create detrimental consequences that will challenge your ability to think fast and make the right decision in order to conquer them. Your triumph is not only based on the cards you hold in your hand, but on your ability to barter with everything you have in your possession in exchange for the card you need. You can not rely on luck alone, you must use skill to win! KAM’ON is a game where deception is absolutely legal and trusting your opponents puts you at risk! Collect all 4 organs and awaken your mummy from the dead into the light of day! The campaign is up and running now. It's set to go for another 44 days. Source Fantasy Flight Games has just announced a new Star Wars board game from acclaimed designer-jedi Corey Konieczka (Star Wars: Imperial Assault, Star Wars: Rebellion) and Tony Fanchi, Star Wars: Outer Rim. In this grand adventure for 1-4, players take on the role of budding bounty hunters in the no mans land of the infamous outer rim. Players win by gathering 10 fame smuggling cargo, fulfilling missions, or completing personal goals. To achieve this end, heroes need resources for good ships, such as a modified YT-1300 light freighter (some type of “falcon“) and worthy crew, such as Lando Calrissian or Han Solo. Pilots need to avoid investigation from nuisances such as the Hutts, the Imperials or even the Rebels as they jump across hyperspace. Outer Rim looks like another epic “star wars in a box” adventure game, this time focusing on the seedier side of becoming the most (in)famous outlaw in the galaxy. Look for Outer Rim in Q2 2019, and read more about it in the official press release here.
The original Shadows of Brimstone dungeon crawler by Flying Frog Productions and Jason C. Hill (Last Night on Earth, Fortune and Glory) was a Kickstarter phenom in 2013, earning $1.3M and delivering a robust unique dungeon crawler. In Shadows, 1-4 players took on roles in the old west, and adventured into an old mine that housed portals to other realms. The game had great monsters, a fantastic exploration system that required no GM, and powerful role playing and leveling options, including a town expansion in which to rest and work on your characters.
Flying Frog added numerous other expansions to the 2 starting boxes for Shadows, then followed it up with Forbidden Fortress in 2016, a stand-alone feudal japan version of Shadows. Now Flying Frog has started a Kickstarter Campaign for 2 new Shadows of Brimstone Adventures, Gates of Valhalla and Valley of the Serpent King. Valhalla has multiple viking character types for players, who travel back to the Targa Plateau from the City of the Ancients Core set to battle new creatures and search of elusive dark stone. The Valley of the Serpent King features Spanish Conquistador characters, and has portals to the Swamps of Jargono from the Swamps of Death Core set. Both games feature numerous high quality miniatures, including oversized elite monsters, dungeon tiles, cards, tokens and all you would expect from a Shadows of Brimstone game. The new Shadows Adventures are fully compatible with all previous versions, but can be played on their own. The Kickstarter Campaign continues through March 9, and the games are expected to deliver in September of 2020. |
